In November 2002, I came up with the
idea to make a 30-size e-heli. The
VentureE, as I have named it, is an e-conversion of the JR Venture30CP glow
powered heli. The heli is fully
aerobatic with full autorotation capabilities and it out performs most 30-size “IC”
– glow helis available today.
In August 2003, I took the VentureE to the IRCHA
Heli Jamboree and entered it in the 50-size “IC” drag races. With it I took 3rd
place. Using Thunder Power Lithium Polymer “LI-PO” batteries this
e-heli will fly between 16 to 20 mins on a single charge. The heli weighs 7lbs/4 ounces in this
configuration. During early
testing, 16 NiMh 3300 MAH GP cells were used in series and the heli flew for 7
mins total with a flying weight still under 8lbs.
